Worldwide mobile connections to hit 6 billion this month

The GSMA Wednesday announced that the worldwide mobile connections are about to hit 6 billion, quickly catching up to the world’s 7 billion people.  The report notes that the Asia Pacific reason is the biggest force behind the growth, with nearly half of all mobile connections coming from this area.  Accordingly, China alone has 940 million total connections, exceeding that of Europe and the US combined.

We appear to be well on track for a 100% penetration rate worldwide within 2-3 years.
